- We’re going to start towards the beginning of his life for this fact. Did you know that Stephen Hawking was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease when he was only 21 years old? Lou Gehrig’s disease is a neurological disease that causes patients to lose control of their voluntary muscles. He initially was told that he would probably only have a few more years to live. Imagine how different our lives would’ve been in we lost the amazing Mr. Hawking 50 years too soon.
- Stephen Hawking has one of the greatest minds known to man, however when he was in grade school, Stephen had some of the worst grades in his class. With some extra work, he was able to bring his grades up to an average level, but regardless of his work, his teachers and peers could sense that there was a genius amongst them.
- Stephen Hawking did revolutionary work in his field of cosmology, general relativity and quantum gravity, but he also wrote a children’s book. Well, he co-wrote the book with his daughter Lucy. The book helped explain more complex theories and equations, such as black holes, to young children.
- Stephen Hawking believed in aliens, or at least that aliens could possibly exist.
- Stephen Hawking just recently passed away on March 14, 2018. That day, we lost one of the greatest minds not only of our time, but of all time. May he rest in peace.
